Welcome to the Fellowship of the Briar! The purpose of this forum is to provide a unique experience to the gentleman who wishes to indulge himself conversationally in the pursuit of fine briars, tobaccos and and other interests one may associate with these pursuits. We take seriously the love of the finely crafted briar pipe while throwing out any pretenses towards elitism, snobbery or boorishness. With that it must be stated that we also do not entertain childishness, foolishness, political or religious debate or drudgery. Bottom line, we are here for those who simply wish to have an outlet to express their joy in our lovely hobby and perhaps a handful of related indulgences. Here you will find discussion on the finest and the simplest of pipes, of artisinally created tobaccos and pouch blends, of fine food and spirits and field sports. We encourage your participation but ask that you refrain from the endless atta-boys, political spin commentaries and public belches associated with so many other forums. No disrespect intended to any other forums or formats, but this is to be an experiment in actual pointed conversation in a direction geared towards the pipe and cigar smokers outlook and lifestyle with a literary bent; the gentlemans road if you will.

We encourage you to join our ranks, pull up a chair and enrich us with your participation.

Here at the point of commencement I am initiating a few commentaries in various forums in the hope that you will join in and turn these into the beginnings of friendly conversations. It seems the best way of incorporating a few of my basest thoughts on certain subjects with the kicking off of the discussions at the same time. Please feel free to contribute in either direct reply or narrative form, as all thoughts pertinent to the subject are welcome so long as they are relevant, friendly and of a gentlemanly decorum.

The goal here is to provide a flavor that is missing on other like forums. I am a fan of certain other pipe and tobacco related forums and do realize that each possesses it's own idiosyncracies. The hope is that the nuance of this watering hole will be of casual yet somewhat scholarly and literate discourse. Again, no politics or religion, there is enough fire, brimstone and bell ringing elsewhere that it need not be entertained here.
