That is my collection of all the pipes I have personally bought. I don't consider my inherited pipes to be part of the collection, as I'd never sell them, under any condition. Truth be told, though, I'm feeling the same way of these pipes.

On the first row, the ones at the top, the makes are Salim, Jobert, Grabow, Grabow, Jobert, Grabow, Jobert, Jobert, Jobert. At the second row, the makes are Jobert, Yello Bole, Grabow, Yello Bole, BBB, Grabow, Grabow, Grabow, Grabow, Grabow. And, on the third row, the ones on the bottom, I have six Grabows, plus a cheap pipe that gets smoked by guests that wish to try the pipe. Often, the sight on their faces that results in their "knowledge" of lighting and packing a pipe are quite comical.

All of these pipes have truly become a part of me and I plan on introducing each one of you to a little story that goes along with them.

I, also, have three other pipes that have broken stems and so they must lay, until I have the desire to get them fixed. Truth be told, they weren't too good of a smoker, any ways.

May they bring you many more years of enjoyment sir! I have a rack of similar dimensions and I too lay my pipes in it at an angle as you do. I prefer seeing them in profile like that.

Those interested might find several images of a few of my pipes (I presently own more than 50 though I don't have an exact count) here:

http://home.windstream.net/rrowe1961/pipe.htm

I do enjoy seeing pipes others own, I think the pipes men (and the occasional woman) say a lot about us, as persons. My personal main interest in terms of collection or favorite shapes is the Canadian family (Canadians, Lumbermans, Liverpools and Lovats) I also enjoy straight Billiards, Bulldog/Rhodesians and Freehands. I prefer single artisan or small shop pipes to 'factory' pipes, though I have a great interest in Petersons especially higher end and POTY offerings. Why you ask, I don't know exactly, there is just something about Peterson shapes and silverwork that appeals to me. I do think that they generally speaking get a really 'bum rap" though I'm not a fan of the 'p-lip'.

Other pipe makers lines I'd purchase again: Jobert, L'anatra, Ardor, Jan Zeman (I own two so far) Rad Davis, Viprati, Ronny Thuner.

Artists who's work I'd like to own one day: Love Geiger, Mark Tinsky, Stephen Downie, Trevor Talbert

"Name Brand" pipes which interest me one day: Ferndown, Ashton

While en route to TX, for a business trip, I can across quite an interesting find:

http://hyba.org/pipes/newgrabows.jpg

I was able to buy all 14 of those Grabows for the song of $25 from an old man siting on the side of the road, while I was driving back to Houston.

Among them, the ones I'm most eager to bring to the rotation are the vintage Omegas, which I always find to be quite enjoyable and quite comfortable, for a man of literature that I am. I was wondering, since this is a new forum, what would everyone's feeling be, if we had a monthly draw, where we could give away a few of these pipes I recently received? Or, we could throw them into the newbie pile, for the young bucks to smoke?

Also, quite recently, I purchased two more pipes from a B&M in Oregon:

The one on the right is a Parker, while the one on the left is a Denicotea and both offer fantastic smoking abilities, with the parker reminding me of the few Dunhills that I have smoked from that era.

More to be added soon, I'm sure.

Michael
